The ceremony was for Calvin Gilb, Matthew Kern, Jordan Kiner and Daxx Wiebelhaus, all recent Eagle Scout recipients and members of Mitchell Troop 75. To attain this highest advancement award in Scouting, a Boy Scout must earn at least 21 merit badges, serve in several leadership positions, and direct his troop in completing a community, church, or non-profit service project. Troop 75 projects included: construction of a dog park for the city of Mitchell by Gilb; construction of park benches for the McTea building by Kern; building and hanging of wood duck houses for Davison County habitat conservation by Jordan Kiner; and tree planting, landscaping and bird house placement at Letcher Lake by Wiebelhaus.
